Battery Modelling & State Estimation (M/F)
Internship 6 months – Flexible start – Paris
Internship – Deeptech startup – Battery diagnostics
Are you a student in Control Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, passionate about dynamic system modelling and algorithm development? Do you want to put your academic knowledge into practice in the real world, especially in the field of battery technology? If so, Entroview — an innovative deeptech start-up revolutionizing the battery industry — invites you to join us as a Battery Modelling & State Estimation Intern!
About Entroview:
Entroview is a French deeptech start-up specializing in advanced lithium-ion battery diagnostics. Our patented entropy-based technology provides precise, real-time diagnostics of State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH). Our mission is to make batteries safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.
Your mission
You will support ongoing work on state estimation (State of Charge, State of Health, and thermal states) applied to advanced Li-ion battery models — a key component to ensuring the safety, efficiency and reliability of electrified systems.
You will contribute to model refinement, parameter extraction, and algorithm validation, with a particular focus on robustness under real-world conditions and battery aging.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyse electrical and thermal dynamic models of Li-ion batteries using MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape.
- Perform system identification and extract model parameters from experimental datasets.
- Design, implement, and validate state estimation algorithms (SoC, SoH, thermal states) for nonlinear systems.
- Assess estimator robustness under parameter variations (e.g., aging, degradation).
- Evaluate performance under model uncertainty, measurement noise, and varying operating conditions.
- Contribute to preparing models and estimators for embedded integration.
Prerequisites:
- Background in Control Systems, Automation, or Electrical Engineering (Master’s level or final year of engineering program).
- Solid understanding of dynamic system modelling, estimation theory, and system identification.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink; familiarity with Simscape is a plus.
- Experience in processing and analysing experimental data.
Technical background:
- MATLAB / Simulink / Simscape
- Experimental data analysis
Benefits
- Gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing deeptech start-up.
- Work in a dynamic, innovative, and stimulating start-up environment.
- Enjoy modern, well-maintained offices in a lively, accessible area.
- Collaborate with a diverse and talented team of battery and data science experts.
- Flexible working hours with the possibility of hybrid work.
- Internship allowance: €1,300 gross per month
Process: 30-minute telephone/visual interview to validate the application, followed by one or more video or physical interviews (video or on-site) with the founders and relevant team members.
This internship opportunity is available from October 2025 and is a unique opportunity to develop your state modelling and estimation skills in a forward-looking start-up.
